As part of the ongoing re-organisation in the Nigeria Customs Service, 5 deputy comptroller generals voluntarily turned in their resignation letter 3 days ago while other 29 senior staffs were also let go.
The names of the deputy comptroller generals are: John Atte, who was in charge of Finance, Administration & Technical Services; Adewuyi Akinade (Tariff & Trade); Austin Nwosu (Strategic Research & Policy); Musa Tafir (Enforcement, Investigation & Inspection) and Ibrahim Mera (Human Resource Development).

Information gathered from Vanguard Newspaper has it that there are indication that not less than 400 officers will soon be released from the NCS for various reasons ranging from absenteeism, corruption, indiscipline and insurbordination. Some of the said staffs were reported to have defied redeployment directives and also have influenced their promotion when they were not due to be promoted.
The spokesperson of the service, Deputy Comptroller Adewale Adeniyi denied knowledge of any government reports on the affected officers when contacted by Vanguard.
