BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In March 2014, Nigerian Immigration services embarked on a recruitment exercise where applicants were made to pay the sum of N1000 through a company appointed by the big guns in the Nigerian Immigration Services with the assistance of some top Politicians. The recruitment exercise finally ended in shambles where atleast 18 job seekers lost their lives accross the country and many others injured. This was grossly attributed to greed, lack of proper planning and sheer nonchalance on the path of both the organisers and the ministry that supervised the entire exercise. However, statistics have it that over N600Million Naira was raised and yet to be accounted for till date...Hmmm hmmm, not until today!!!

Reports have it that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has beamed their searchlight toward the retrieval of the proceeds from the corrupt NIS online recruitment exercise as informed in our background information. In the last 72hours, the former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro has been grilled for not less than 16hours before being admitted to administrative bail. It is of immense importance to note that out of the estimated N600Million made, only N45Million was remitted into Government coffers while the rest are still largely unaccounted for.
One of the officials in the agency told Vanguard that the investigators wanted to know who, between the leadership of the NIS then headed by Paraddang, and the supervising Interior Ministry, then headed by Mr. Abba Moro, was keeping the money realized from the candidates who participated in the ill-fated exercise.
An official of EFCC said last night: “At the end of the day, our agents will be able to know who is culpable so that we can press appropriate charges accordingly in line with our zero tolerance for corruption.
“We are going to get to the roots of the job scam and bring to book anyone found to have abused public trust in the process.”
