IVORY COAST POST VIOLENCE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: PRESIDENT OUATTARA WINS WITH A LANDSLIDE

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

After the violence that marred the Presidential election 5years ago, another Presidential Election was conducted on the 26th of October, 2015. Incumbent Alassane Ouattara, known as the man of the people sought a re-election.




 Ten candidates were approved by the Constitutional Council:

  • Alassane Ouattara,, Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RDR, PDCI, UDPCI and MFA)
  • Pascal Afi, Alliance of Democratic Forces (FPI, PIT and eight other parties)
  • Mamadou Koulibaly, National Coalition for Reform (LIDER and other parties)
  • Bertin  Kouadio, National Coalition for Reform, dissident PDCI
  • Charles Konan, National Coalition for Reform, dissident PDCI
  • Essy Amara, dissident PDCI
  • Siméon Konan Kouadio
  • Henriette Lagou Adjoua
  • Jacqueline-Claire Kouangoua
  • Gnangbo Kacou

President Ouattara has been declared winner of the past Presidential Election held in Ivory Coast with a landslide victory equivalent to 84% of the total valid votes when he only needed to get more than 50% to avoid a run off. Congratulations to him.
